What is Kyoto-Celluloid

by Azone co.,ltd

In 1870,the first thermoplastic resin available to mankind was celluloid, a natural resin made from wood and cotton.

Although it is the oldest material, it is an ecological material that is now in demand. Kyoto Celluloid offers products made of celluloid, a natural material with its soft touch, deep and vivid colors, and gentle luster.

Celluloid strings are made and braided into the pen barrel of a celluloid pen using the traditional "Braid" technique of Kyoto.

Depending on how it is braided, various patterns can be created. When you touch it, you can feel the woven texture in your hand.
